Writing

I love to write. After college I learned how to write news stories at a small daily newspaper, then carried those storytelling skills with me to a communications position for a Catholic health care system, St. Joseph Health. There, I served as the media liaison for two rural hospitals and successfully fostered positive relationships with the regional print and broadcast outlets. I created strategic communication pieces; managed the planning and implementation of public relations and marketing campaigns; created and curated the hospitals’ social media accounts, print and web publications, and newsletter content. I also handled internal communication, crisis management and community relations. Later, I spent several years working in donor relations, which I absolutely loved.

North East Wing Capital Campaign Report

______________________________________________________

In 2008, St. Joseph Hospital in Eureka, California, embarked on a monumental capital campaign to fund the North East Wing — an expansion project estimated to cost $145 million.

As part of the public relations and marketing team, I worked with the news media to publicize and promote the campaign, and I worked on a number of donor relations projects, including the development of this 32-page final report.

It took over a year from beginning to end to perfect this document. I was responsible for researching and writing all of the copy, taking and assembling most of the photos, and overseeing the overall design. View the full report available upon request.

Sisters' Jubilee

______________________________________________________

When the Sisters of St. Joseph of Orange celebrated the 100th anniversary of their service to communities in California, I served as the volunteer director for the jubilee celebration — a weekend of events joining the Sisters with community members who were impacted by their work over the years. Primary responsibilities included:

  • Leading the team of volunteers responsible for publicizing Jubilee weekend events.
  • Generating pre- and post-event media coverage.
