Statement of Teaching Philosophy
My favorites are the intensive public relations writing classes. In these classes, I push students to embrace and address their weaknesses rather than lean on the skills that come easily. My assignments are designed to help students develop writing skills with transferrable applications in the professional world.
Another favorite class: Nonprofit Online Crowdfunding, a highly experiential class I designed for the Spring 2017 term at the University of Oregon. Students in this class volunteered for Oregon-area nonprofits, learning the ins and outs of working in the nonprofit sector and developing online fundraising materials for the organizations. The capstone project for the course was a full crowdfunding campaign featuring a persuasive video.
